BRAZIL, a land of vast geographical and ecological diversity, has been a major actor in worldwide sugarcane production since the 16th century, when the Portuguese brought the sugarcane from their native land and where it flourished. Brazil is a world leader in the production of sugar and sugarcane derivatives and technologies.

CUBA, one of the first islands to have been discovered in the New World and consequently where the Spaniards first brought the sugarcane from the Iberian Peninsula to be grown there in the 16th century. Over time Cuba became one of the main producers of sugarcane as well as the main and renowned producer and exporter of policosanols from sugarcane.

NICARAGUA, known for having been a cornerstone of the Mayan Empire, labeling it a land of volcanoes and lakes, has used its rich soil to grow sugarcane for many years and it is a major industry in this beautiful country.
